Biography


Amarante Martinez, 84, a resident of Ranchos de Taos, formerly of Medanales, passed away on February 21, 2018. Amarante was preceded in death by his parents, Adelaido and Leontina Martinez; brothers: Sifredo, Luis and Bernabe; sisters: Bennie and Eulalia. Known for his big heart, strong personality and bright memory, Amarante will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Laura Frances, son, Rudy of Las Vegas, NV and daughter, Tina (Mike) of Portland, OR, granddaughter, Becky, grandsons, Nick and Andy (Karen); sisters: Helen and Jeannette; brothers: Sifredo, Fabian, Carlos, Eduardo and Jose, many nieces, nephews and many friends. Amarante was a hard worker starting at a young age. He was a sheepherder, lumberjack and jack of all trades. Amarante retired after 30 years from Arcturus Manufacturing Company as a metalurgist/inspector. He knew the State of New Mexico from top to bottom, corner to corner and made many lasting friends along the way.

Rosary will be recited on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 10 AM at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Funeral mass will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. .

My condolences on the death of cousin Amarante. Not too long after cousin Bernabe died whom was a close cousin. May his soul rest in peace. Last time I saw Amarante and Laura was for my mother's funeral. I was sick for Bernabe's funeral and could not attend. May the Lord embrace you all during this difficult time of sorrow.
