CARLOTTA T. ORTIZ

Carlotta T. Ortiz passed away peacefully at her Santa Fe home Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the age of 95. A descendent of the early Spanish settlers of the seventeenth century, she was proud of her heritage and loved her family time at the ranch in Gallina. Following many years of service, she retired from the New Mexico State Department of Education. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ursulo V. Ortiz; her parents, Celia Jacquez and Canuto Trujillo; sisters, Aurelia Fresquez, Fabiola Borrego, and Eleanor Maestas. Carlotta is survived by her sisters, Priscilla Alire and Lita Price; her children, Lucilla Ortiz Baca (James), Reynaldo Ortiz (Katie), and Dennis Ortiz; grandchildren, Brenda, Leah, Brian, Andrea, Dante, Robert and Cristiana; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Cameron, Bodee and Talia. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Eulogy will be presented at 9:30 am with celebration of the mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will include her grandchildren and Larry Armijo.
