dear eddy lee, sitting somewhere on a cloud.
I was looking for you these days in the internet - and someone told me, that you passed away. farewell my friend.
we once met, 20 years ago, in zürich, switzerland, where you played on a country festival. and some months later I was visiting you in TAOS. we spent a short but wonderful time together. I remember you composing "horses on the moon". you celebrated with me my 30th birthday.
when I had to leave, we were sitting in your flat, with your cat aisha nearby, listening to this song of jim croce: "if I could save time in a bottle, ... i'd save it to spend it with you."
thank you for a wonderful time in my life, with you in the land of enchantment.
dear eddy, I am sure, some day we will meet again - maybe as horses on the moon, running wild and free.
love
mo

My wife, Luanne, and I are absolutely gutted to hear this very sad news. I came on the Internet in search of a new Eddy Lee album but found this instead. It is way too early to have to write this.

We had the pleasure of meeting Eddy Lee at the Sagebrush Inn, Taos, in January 2005. We were blown away by his talent and showmanship and it was an absolute pleasure to have chatted with him over a glass of Patron.

We still talk about that night as one of the most memorable nights of our lives. Because of that night and through his music, Eddy Lee will always live on in our hearts.

"Carved in stone is a name I will remember. Skin and bone and a heart that was so tender."
I learned that song from Eddy Lee Bullington when I was new to Taos, and it has since held a special place in my heart. I didn't know Eddy Lee especially well on a personal basis, but mostly as a brilliant musician and song writer, with an incredibly beautiful voice. When I first arrived in Taos, he was amazingly supportive and gracious in allowing me to sit in and play a song or two at the Sagebrush during his solo gigs. There was also nothing better than dancing the night away to the sound of his voice and guitar with Hired Hands. He will always live in our hearts through his music.

To the family of Lee:

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I only heard about this today, so am sorry in my late condolences. He was a funny, good-natured talented person who spoke of the Lord. May he remain in His PEACE until you are all together again. Just think of it...Lee has had his conversation with the Lord face to face...and His mercy is as far as the east is from the west! I am sure he is in that blissful peace, and pray it is extended to you all.

Lee,

Some of my first memories of you were your running up and down the sidewalk trying to keep up with the "big kids", Lynn, Melanie and Alpha. As time went on, you joined the ranks of "big kids" with Mandi,Melinda and Gerry chasing aftr you. Then came the new kids on the block - Sherri, Eddie, Cliffy and Kevin. Such a passel of kids! Ya'll would play hours and hours together, bouncing from one house to the next. Each of the five houses was like home to each of you 11 children. It was one big happy family, each of you having five moms. We were blessed to have those times together.

Time moved on and you became a handsome talented young man. We loved your music and were lucky to have attended some of your gigs. (I listed to your "Horses on the Moon" cd last night.) I know you are now in the angel chorus.

We so enjoyed the times we visited your family in Red River. After Melinda died, your mom insisted that we come for Christmas. She was so wise to have us be away from our traditional Christmas and spend time away with friends. Here ya'll were almost grown and still acting just like you had as children on Spruce Forest - laughing and having such a good time together. It was good to hear laughter at our sad time.

Two of the Spruce Forest eleven have now left our world and gone to another place. And, you are joined by a second generation of the group - Melanie's son, William. Hope you, Melinda and William are together and can reminese about childhood memories. William will love to hear the stories about his mom.

We love you and are going to miss you. May peace be with you.

Lee,
When I think of you I think of all the fun times we had on Spruce Forest in Houston. All of us kids would play outside for hours. Either playing hide and seek, riding bikes and skateboards, playing in the mud hole in your back yard, catching bugs, frogs and lizards and who can forget the many times we jumped off the roof of your house. Always an adventure that I'm sure drove all of our parents crazy. We sure had alot of fun didn't we? So much laughter, so many smiles.
The times my family came to visit in Red River were so special to us. Remember the time you and Lynn talked me and Mandi into being pushed down that huge hill on trash can lids in the snow? I've never spun so much in my life. I was terrified while you and Lynn just laughed and laughed. In the end I had a blast!!!!
I always enjoyed hearing you play your music at the many taverns, cofee shops, clubs, etc. Those will always be treasured times for me.

Jolene, Bob and Lynn
I am so sorry for the loss of Lee. Your family has been and always will be so special to me. I will truly miss Lee's laughter and his beautiful smile. You are in my thoughts and my prayers. God Bless You!!

Dear Lee,
I am so grateful to have known you and to have been a part of your life, even though it was for a short period of time. I understand more now about what you were going through and I thank God every day now that we were able to talk before you died. I'm a little angry, my grief is great yet I do understand. I know you are free, I know you are in no pain. I can't keep your Mom and Dad out of my mind so..
To Bob and Jolene, I'll say it again, you have been and still are wonderful loving parents and you gave birth to an amazing soul who will be remembered and missed greatly for his talent his sense of humor and his absolute love for his family and friends. You are not alone in your grief. I am here always for you both.
love,
Suzanne

Lee,
I want you to know that sometimes I feel lost for words and even tongue tied when a death occurs. My mom said, you were a cousin of mine, but I don't recall ever meeting you. Maybe someday we will get to meet. You will be missed by many around you and those who loved you. When I see your picture on here you look like a true cowboy. May whatever Gods or Goddesses shine their light on you and protect you through your next life that you may enter.

Uncle/Cousin Bob & Aunt Jolene,
May peace be with you and your family at this time of your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Your Cousin,
Tommy Martin

Lee. I was so blessed to know you. Time would go by where we had not seen each other for a while. When we would run into each other again it was great because we would talk and it was like the gap in time when we last spoke never existed. I will always treasure the long talks we had in the past.

I will miss you cuz. You always made me laugh; you even occasionally laughed at my horrible jokes. Your music was awesome; now I listen with a tear in my eye and a sad heart. I remember all the fun times we had in Houston and especially our summers at the Rio Colorado Lodge in Red River; we could spend hours playing silly games. I will always love you and miss you and I will never forget you.
