Eric Lambert

Eric Lambert 80, of Taos passed away November 19, 2017 at the UNM Neurosurgery Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M. He was born to Dr. Richard Lambert and Grace Agnes Long in Chicago. Growing up he lived in New Orleans, Mexico and California. He served 13 years in the Navy and 3 years in Japan during his enlistment. He left the Navy to go back to college in San Diego. After running a Coffee Shop in San Francisco he traveled around in Colorado and landed in Taos, NM in the 70's. He was a member of Taos Industries Co-op created in 1980, a tree planting organization, planting millions of trees mostly on Native American reservations in Colorado and New Mexico. Eric, his chainsaw and Big Red (his International 7 ton, 17 foot truck) went to the mountains to cut wood for customers. Big Red was used for moving jobs locally and out of state. A wood stove inside Big Red and Eric had a home for a time.

Eric was known for sheep and goat roasts for weddings and other events, using a Jim Parker spit system. Eric and Nita Murphy had a Christmas wreath and garland business for 12 years, raised sheep, turkeys and goats in Talpa for a while and then Eric went to school in Albuquerque for EMT and Paramedic training. He worked for Taos County Ambulance Services for 13 years first as EMT and then as a Paramedic. After leaving Taos Ambulance he worked forest fires as a paramedic, including the Los Alamos fire in 2011.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Grandson Chad Lambert, brothers Tom Lambert and David Watson. He was survived by friend Nita Murphy and Paul Dembski, Taos, son Rick Lambert, Grandson Sean Lambert and greatgrandchild Zane Lambert of Washington. Brothers Bill and Jim Lambert, California and Rupert Watson of Arizona, nieces Kristen Watson Greulach (Christopher) sons Henry and Rupert, of California, Tsia Watson Fraunces (George) children David and Madelyn of Arizona and nephew Alessandro Watson (Charla) children Julia and Andrew of California.

Rivera Funeral Home handled his cremation and there will be a memorial lunch held at a later date.
