Evangeline Herrera

Evangeline Herrera, 83, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2017 at her home in Santa Fe. Evangeline was born in Vallecitos, New Mexico on December 10, 1934 to Elijio and Estefanita DeVargas. She married and moved to Santa Fe where she raised her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Samuel Ricardo; infant son Patrick Vincent; brother, Isis (Joe) DeVargas; sisters, Eppie Larabell and Esther Lopez; brother-in-laws, Earl Larabell, Ben Salazar and Jerome Trujillo. She is survived by her dauther, Loretta Garcia (Donald) of Santa Fe; her son, Samuel M. Herrera of Taos; grandchildren, Patrick Garcia (DeAnna) of Albuquerque, Charles Garcia (Leslie) and Yvette Garcia, both of Santa Fe; great grandchildren, Xavier, Karolina, Alexander, Bella and Faith (goddaughter); her sisters, Rose Salazar, Esmiria Lucero, Elva Trujillo and Geraldine Sandoval. Special thanks for those individuals who looked after her well being in the last year of her life. Services for Evangeline are as follows: Rosary (10:30 a.m.) and Mass (11:00 a.m.) on December 27, 2017 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church, Santa Fe. Followed by Burial at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A reception will follow at her home
