Fr. Frederick (Fred) Brand

Born on February 9, 1932. Died on November 24, 2017. Fr. Fred was born in Wausau, WI to Dr. Fred M. and Florence Brand. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1954.
Fred spent two years in the Army in Alaska and several years in Europe travelling and studying. He entered St. Thomas seminary in Denver, CO. in 1960. He was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe on May 27, 1967.
He spent most of his priestly life in small Catholic parishes in northern New Mexico. He was a frequent visitor to the Monastery of Christ in the Desert. Fr. Fred was dedicated to a personal relationship with Jesus.
Fr. Fred loved the outdoors…skiing, hiking and backpacking.
He is survived by his brother Tom (Sedona, AZ) and John (Woodstock, VT).
He will be missed.
There will be a Vigil service Tuesday December 5 from 6 – 8:00 PM at Santuario of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Santa Fe. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop John Wester at 11:00 AM on Wednesday December 6 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe. Mass will be followed by a reception in the Church Hall.
