GEORGE ROBERT (BOB) REED

Bob passed away on April 12, 2008 at Vista Care Hospice Unit with his family surrounding his bed. He died peacefully.
He was born in Waka, Texas on April 17, 1929 to Bill and Georgie (Robertson) Reed. He was the third of eleven children. He is preceded in death by his sister, Roseanne, who died as an infant. Also, preceding him were both parents, his wife of 21 years, Edith Dale Reed, three brothers, Skee, Cliff, and Jack, two sisters, Ruth Breeding and Barbara Kline. He is also preceded by his son, Johnny.
Bob is survived by his wife Connie of the family home in Los Lunas, New Mexico, sons Jerry of Alamosa, Colorado, Jim and his fiancé Jennifer of Corrales, New Mexico, and Kenny Reed, also of Los Lunas. He is also survived by two daughters, Judy and her husband Jack McGowan of Albuquerque, and Annie and her husband Kyle Medders of Cochiti Lake, New Mexico. He has two grandchildren by Judy and Jack, Dustin and Kendall McGowan of Albuquerque. He is also survived by sisters Glynnell Reed of Hamilton, Montana, Mary Lou Weathers of Claxton, Georgia, and Lynda Fleming of Peyton, Colorado. He is survived by his brother Howard and wife Colleen Reed of Bloomfield, New Mexico, he also has several nieces and nephews and cousins around the country.
Bob retired from the Public Safety Company of New Mexico in 1983 with 30 years with the company. He has worked in every power plant PNM had in New Mexico. He started in Las Vegas, NM and retired from PNM at the San Juan Generating Station in Waterflow, New Mexico. He was very proud of his work with PNM and the fact that he was involved in the start up of all four units at San Juan.
His favorite hobbies were trading cars, and dabbling in real estate. He owned a mobile home park in Waterflow for about 21 years. He had bought and sold a few houses in the country and was very well at it. He even thought at one time to become a real estate broker, but he mostly just had fun at it.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 1:00pm Santa Fe Funeral Options and Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 417 East Rodeo Road in Santa Fe, with burial immediately following. He will be buried with his son Johnny, who died in 1995 and next to wife Edith who died in 1968, and her parents.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Reed, James Reed, Kenny Reed, Bruce Myers, Kyle Medders, and Ben Cliff. Honorary pallbearer is Anne Medders.
