Isidoro Gallegos

Isidoro Gallegos, 86, of Santa Fe, passed away Thanksgiving Day in Santa Fe. He was born November 13, 1931 in La Madera, NM, the son of Rose and Frank Gallegos. His parents have preceded him in death, along with two brothers; Orlando and Antonio Gallegos, and his sister; Carmen Herrera. Isidoro married Emilia Lucero on August 10, 1957 in Ojo Caliente, NM, celebrating 60 years of marriage this year. Isidoro joined the U.S. Army in 1948, serving during the Korean War and receiving the Bronze Star. He was a member of the VFW and served as a member of the VFW Color Guard for several years. He retired from the State Highway Department District 5. He enjoyed his family and enjoyed going for wood and gardening with his grandsons.
He is survived by his loving wife, Emilia; their three children, Margaret Rodriguez (Daniel), Lawrence Gallegos (Josette), and Miguel Gallegos (Laura); his numerous grandchildren, Joseph Nieto (Alyssa), Matthew Nieto (Monique), David Rodriguez, Peter Rodriguez, Kevin Gallegos (Annie), Nicholas Gallegos, Vanessa Garcia, Edward Martinez, Danielle Garcia, Adam Gallegos, and Joshua Gallegos; and his great grandchildren, Ty and Teke Nieto, Agustine and Jayde Nieto, Adam, Elijah, Anthony, Nevyn, David Jaedin, and Lola Rodriguez. He is also survived by his four sisters, Marian Trujillo (Juan), Edith Herrera (Diego), Tila Velarde, and Elma Trujillo (Ralph; sisters-in-law, Susie Gallegos and Alvie Lucero; and brother-in-law, Pablo Lucero. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where a rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Thursday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment with full military honors will follow at 12:45 PM Friday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers include Joseph Nieto, Matthew Nieto, David Rodriguez, Peter Rodriguez, Kevin Gallegos, Adam Gallegos, and Joshua Gallegos. His family expresses special thanks to his caregivers, Ester Baca, Lillian Jimenez, and Dolores Jimenez.
