Biography
Rev. Jose Gregorio “George” Gonzales, 97, of Santa Fe, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017. He was born October 29, 1919, in Los Alamos, NM. He was a WWII veteran, a 1st Sergeant in the 610th Engineer L.E. Co, and participated in the Normandy Invasion. “Brother George” entered ministry in 1953 and dedicated himself to establishing churches throughout Northern NM until his retirement in 1986. He and his wife, Rev. Sylvia Ramirez, pastored in Taos for 33 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia, parents Cirilo and Felicita Gonzales, brothers Arturo and Frank, sisters Cordelia Gonzales, Stella Romero, and Lucy Macy. He is survived by his daughter, Beth, son Reuben and wife Cindy, son Gilbert, grandson Bryan and wife Bethany, great-grandson Greyson, grandson Marcos, and granddaughters Kristen and Amanda.
All services will be at the Christian Life Church (121 Siringo Rd. Santa Fe) August 29, 2017: Viewing 6 pm, Memorial Service 7 pm; August 30, 2017: Service 10 am, Interment – National Cemetery 12:45 pm, followed by meal at Christian Life.
