Sadie V. Ortega

SADIE V. ORTEGA Was called home by her Creator on March 4, 2018. Sadie was born in Bear Canyon, Colorado on December 2, 1922. She graduated from Madrid High School in 1942.
During her life, Sadie worked at Gross, Kelly and Company, and the State of New Mexico. Sadie enjoyed sewing, ceramics, cooking and tending to her garden. She was an active member of the Catholic Church. Participating as a teacher in bible school and catechism classes for the youth at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Sadie was also a dedicated member of the Sacred Heart League, the St. Francis Alter Society and the Secular Franciscan Order. She loved her family and enjoyed visits from her grandsons, nephews, nieces and their families. She passed away as a parish member of The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolfo and Francisca Hernandez; sister, Nellie Gutierrez and husband Fred; brothers; Juan Luariano, Jose Guillermo, Adolfo Jr., Jimmie, Pedro and wife Flora, Jose Maria and wife Clara; Orlando Hernandez. She is survived by her husband Juan B. Ortega; daughter, Mary Frances Hernandez; son, Joaquin (Jack) Ortega and wife Juanita; son, Martin A. Ortega and wife Wendy; and sister, Teresa Hernandez; grandson Gabriel Ortega and wife Briana; grandson Joaquin Santiago Ortega and wife Arlene; and many nephews and nieces, great nephews, and nieces, as well as other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 9:30-10:30am followed by a Rosary, at 10:30am, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am at The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sadie’s name to the Villa Therese Catholic Clinic.
