Wesley Crowl

1996 - June 15th, 2018

Biography

Wesley Drew Crowl passed away early on the morning of June 15, 2018. He was born to Terry McClymond and Scott Crowl in Taos on January 19, 1996. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend to many. He enjoyed rock climbing with his dad, perusing book stores and movies with his mom and spending time at the lake with family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was playing card and board games with his whole family. Wesley enjoyed thick fantasy novels, had a passion for anime, international cuisine and the purrrfect cat video. He had an air of maturity greater than his age. He had a quick humor, enjoyed many creative pursuits and a true eclectic appreciation of music. His gentle spirit brought ease of being to those in his presence. Even during difficult times, Wesley was a genuine friend who was kind and thoughtful not only to those he loved, but even to strangers. Wesley lived in Albuquerque where he attended Central New Mexico Community College. Wesley will be remembered for his profound compassion for others, his brilliant sense of humor and his deep laugh accompanied by a big, contagious smile. He leaves behind many who love him including family across the country, friends from all over the world and his beloved cat, Roger. A celebration of Wesley’s life will be planned for a later date. Memorial contributions can be made in Wesley’s name to Golden Willow Retreat. PO Box 569 Arroyo Hondo, NM 87513. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home, Taos. Wesley was my student in English 1102 at CNM--an extraordinary young man in a class I won't forget. I am so grateful for his "old soul" wisdom, his keen insights, and his kindness in the classroom. This, then, from a poem he shared with the class ("Immortal Sails" by Alfred Noyes):
"Now, in a breath, we'll burst those gates of gold,
And ransack heaven before our moment fails.
Now, in a breath, before we, too, grow old,
We'll mount and sing and spread immortal sails.
It is not time that makes eternity. . ."
No Wesley, it is not time; it is light--brilliant and illuminating, like your life. Love and prayers to Wesley's family and friends.

Any words, at this time are meaningless compared to what you must be going through. I only met him once but he came across as a handsome, caring and polite young man. Wish I had gotten to know him better. Please, accept my heartfelt condolences and I am keeping you in my thoughts always. Love to you all.
